Overcomers Report

Here is a note from one of our Volunteer Overcomers Facilitator's, Margaret Lee:

First off-we are still having lock down issues.

Everything is closed starting this morning at the prison. The Chaplain called this morning to tell us the prison is on lock down until further notice-he is hoping only a week or perhaps two. I don't know what the cause is but have a suspicion as there are many new young inmates and many previous gang members and possibly some racial tension along with it.

So, Satan is trying his very best to stop the progress of the Gospel. Our guys were doing so good-lots of questions and issues about personal Christianity and Christian character-how do you handle all the bad stuff happening in our families and in our lives-etc. We had a BIG Catholic issue come up with the Spanish inmates-most of them have not been in a Catholic church in years and have no idea of the changes-some still believe that only the Priest can read the Bible-so this is good-Mike was raised Catholic so he had credibility with the men-we have a Spanish friend in a Charismatic Catholic church who is going to come talk to the inmates about changes in the church and a personal relationship with Jesus-that will be really good. Hope we get the chance to have this happen-it will open the door to a spiritual revival among the Spanish inmates.

Al & Tammy Schaefer

The mission of WVIW is to spread the full gospel message of Jesus Christ, to prisoners, professional corrections personnel, victims of crime, and their respective families.

One of our most successful ways of reaching into prisons is through the leadership and hard work of Al and Tammy Schaefer.

Al and Tammy offer the type of experience and testimony that greatly impacts those that are affected by prison. Together they bring hope and encouragement to every unit they enter. They schedule and plan months in advance which units they will be ministering to and execute their ministry with excellence. Every service is filled with the awesome presence of God, and it is always a place you can count on hearing a word that will change lives. Anyone who meets Al and Tammy are blessed by their presence and WVIW is blessed to be a part of their ministry.

Al and Tammy have long provided this type of excellence in ministry and have done so on very little to no money from outside sources. Their ministry has sustained itself due to the work of the Schaefer's and the provision of God. They have invested their lives and their money into making this ministry one of great influence and change.

Now they need our help.

Al and Tammy have a very full schedule this year which will include several visits to units around east and south Texas, with Crusades happening in almost each corner of the state. They also have plans to visit San Quentin and Chawchilla facilities in California. Through their efforts they will reach hundreds of inmates this summer alone. Each of these events takes time and money to accomplish.

We need to help them financially in order to keep them on the road and provide a means to get into every prison scheduled for the rest of 2009.

Please prayerfully consider how much you will give to Al and Tammy financially to see them through this year. All donations can be made through WVIW by clicking on the PayPal Donate button below. You may also send your donation directly to
