WVIW Message from the Director

I am very excited about what is going on at WVIW these days. We continue hearing from wives and inmates who attended the recent  Marriage Seminar at the Telford Unit in New Boston, Texas. It is just wonderful to here how God touched these precious couples.

Nancy Frampton, one of our key volunteers, sends an email every day, to all the wives who have email addresses. One wife wrote back recently to say how she had attended three of our seminars, and each one was "better than the last". She also told of a couple she met at this seminar that did not know Christ.

Both made decisions for Christ at the seminar and are radically changed. The wife went home and shared with her mother, who is now saved, and is now really turned on to Jesus. The wife started taking the devotionals Nancy wrote to work and sharing them with her boss. He got excited about Jesus, and is now looking for places to give.

You just can't help but get excited when you see how God is multiplying His Word when we are faithful to preach it.

Betty and I,  just returned from the Jester III Unit, near Houston, where I held a Manhood Seminar. There were over 70 men at the seven hour seminar. They were very attentive and hungry for the Word. The chaplain asked me to please schedule a follow up seminar.

This past Tuesday, Betty and I met with the warden of the prison to plan out our next Marriage Seminar being held in August. It seems as though we just finished one and it is time to start work on another which makes working in the Kingdom of God the greatest joy of my life.

Why don't you come and go with WVIW into the prisons?

When you see God change a man or a woman right before your eyes, you will never be the same. The joy of the Lord will flood you very soul.

If you cannot go, please help someone else go and JOIN THE TEAM!!! The sender receives the same reward as the one who goes!!!! There are still many more couples and many other men who need your help today

$130 will pay for an inmate and his wife to attend the Marriage Seminar.

$1,300 will sponsor 10 couples couples.

A gift of any amount will really help us right now.

You may donate on our secure web site or by mail. Please do what you can. God richly bless you

Johnny Moffitt
Director

WVIW Marriage Seminar Feedback

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!  I can't thank you enough for
this last weekend.  This was the first time my husband and I were able
to do a lot of things.  Our first time to actually have a meal
together, dance together, SIT next to each other, and just be a
couple.  We fell even more deeply in love this weekend.  We learned
how to keep God at the center of our marriage.  I have been beyond
cloud 9.  Thank you for all your hard work to make this happen!

Thank you so much!
V. & B.G.

WVIW Marriage Seminar reactions

Here is a short email we received from a wife and also a message from her mother regarding our Marriage Seminar at the Telford Unit this past weekend.

Dear Johnny , Betty, staff, and volunteers, I can not begin to thank you for this past weekend 's marriage seminar at the Telford Unit. It was such a blessing to be able to sit next to my husband and just be with him for the extended time. I praise God for allowing 'T' and I to be part of it. It was just a few weeks ago that I was at a real low point with just dealing with the pressure's of life by myself without my husband,. This was just what was needed. I got to know some of you and I love all of you. You have touched my life in such a profound way that mere words will not be able to express my gratitude. If I can ever do anything for you and it is in my power to do it --I will! I speak God's richest blessings upon your ministry! Love you all and thank God for you!
'L.B.' (and 'T.B')
Thank you so very much for the marriage seminar at Telford unit. My son-in-law, t.b. and l.b. [daughter] attended. I know how excited [she] was before time. she came home walking on air. I appreciate your ministry so much. I know how much it meant to everyone. I did jail ministry for the last 5 years in Greenville, Tx. It blessed me so! Thank you again.
L.S.

WVIW Marriage Seminar Wives Arrival

The Marriage Seminar is now underway as several of the participating wives have now here at the First Baptist Church of New Boston. We are starting today's in prison session in just a few minutes. At lunch we had Johnny& Betty Moffitt presenting us with the list of this weekends events, and expectations and as always a list of things we can't bring into prison.

We also had the opportunity to hear from a lovely woman, who has been now to several Seminars with WVIW, and has been married 24 years. She shared how several difficult situations, including her own health problems, almost prevented her from coming to this weekend's Seminar. She told us how all week she had been on the phones and having people pray with her and for her, and how by Thursday her story had reached several people including the warden and her doctor. The warden told her how her husband was not going to be transferred and was welcome to attend the seminar, and her doctor told her she could travel as long as where she went was a 'happy place'. She told us "Well, I didn't tell him how happy prison was with this seminar", and she made the trip. We are so glad that she did!

Everybody is anxious and each of the participating wives is very evidently ready to see their husbands and begin the weekend.

We are all loading up now to drive to the prison and will be entering the gates in about an hour.

Please stay tuned and keep us all in your prayers.

WVIW Marriage Seminar Update

Worldwide Voice In the Wilderness hosts Marriage Seminars like the one today because of the indelible impact they have on the lives of those who attend. From the staff, to the volunteer team and of course the couples involved everyone WILL leave changed this weekend and will be impacted in ways they did not expect.

When asked Why are you here? Several volunteer's answered in the following ways:

"I like to watch God move around the room and come into our lives and make change"
"It is powerful to see what God can do"
"I need to get out of my comfort zone"
"I am an ex-offender and when I was in volunteers came in and that is how I got saved so I figure why not come back and do the same thing"
"To reach, and help the people about to get out of prison, and share the genuineness of God "

Each volunteer team member has a unique and wonderful story. The reasons they have come are as varied as the people that sit in this room. Some have traveled 7 or more hours to come be a part of this weekend and all have given of their time, money and all will exert much effort over the next three days.

"God has you here for a reason…you may not even know why you're here yet, but just know that God set you aside for THIS group here at Telford. Our job this weekend is to create the atmosphere for God to Move!" - Johnny Moffitt

WVIW is blessed with a strong and encouraging group of supporters and volunteers that ANY organization would be honored to serve next to.
The goal set before the team this weekend is to use their unique gifting, and talents to set the stage for God to be able to change lives the way they need to be changed.

"I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health just as your soul prospers. I have no greater JOY than to hear that this group walk in truth and send others forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God's favor."
Stay tuned for more from New Boston, Tx and The WVIW Marriage Seminar at Telford

I am praying for God's favor...we may be going through a tough time in our lives and still be exactly in the center of HIS plan. HIS love does not flee from us in the midst of a great difficulties, but because of our faithfulness, we experience God's Blessings! Lord may I always remain faithful to you regardless of the path you call me to walk. Amen

WVIW Marriage Seminar Volunteers

A Major component of making a WVIW Marriage Seminar successful is having several selfless, competent volunteers. WVIW volunteers give their time, effort, & resources in exchange for the opportunity to be a
part of these life changing seminars.

We aim to make each Seminar uniquely impactful; from the teaching material, to the music selection and the testimonials. It is our volunteers that bring this level of impact and make it such a unique and rewarding weekend for all the attendees.

Today, 18 individuals, are traveling to and arriving here in New Boston. Our volunteers meet tonight so that we have time to see each other, pray with each other, and share a meal together. Tonight represents a very intimate and laid back time for each of us to spend meeting with each other and least catching up before the seminar starts. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and making new one's.

Tonight will also give our team the chance to get prepared mentally for the weekend. Although each Marriage Seminar is well planned out by the WVIW staff we always make time to prep each volunteer for what to expect which ensures that we are all on the same page once we go through the gates tomorrow afternoon. We also take time to discuss Friday's Morning meeting where we finish assembling any remaining seminar materials and meet the wives as they begin arriving around noon.

WVIW Marriage Seminar Telford Unit 2010

This month Our Team will head to New Boston, Tx on a trip to the Telford Unit prison. On May 14th - 16th the WVIW staff along with 20 volunteers will meet up with 25 women who have husbands in prison at this unit. These 25 wives come from all over the state of Texas and have been married to their husbands for anywhere from 2 to 25 years . They are from every walk of life and sometimes the only common bond with each other is having faced the challenges of being married to a felon.

These women are strong, courageous and unfettered in their resolve to be the best wife & mother they can be. Regardless of their current set of circumstances they will attend WVIW's Marriage Seminar with much anticipation of the positive life change that has become a regular occurrence at these seminars. Some of this year's attendees have been to a WVIW Marriage Seminar before and are returning this year because they know full well all the advantages. The weekend is the largest stretch of visitation time most of these couples will experience for their entire sentence. For others this weekend may represent more visitation hours at one gathering than they have had ALL year.

WVIW creates an environment where a husband and a wife can share in and experience all that God has to offer their marriage.

We begin this by having couples sit side by side (this is strictly prohibited in regular visitation), enjoy breakfast, lunch, & dinner together, sing & worship God together, and hear & engage with dynamic teaching. Most of these things can be taken for granted by couples everyday, but here these precious moments are cherished and guarded as if they were currency.

Once we allow this experience to saturate the room and become reality for our attendees we are at a place where our volunteers are not only a welcome addition but a completely vital part of the weekend.

Our volunteers attend with one goal: To Serve. They are invited to be a part of this sacred weekend to serve each of the couples in any way possible. This will include serving food and drinks throughout the weekend, socializing with each couple, and even connecting as Small Group Leaders in the discussion times. Some of the best and longest running friendships have been forged between volunteers and attendees during WVIW's Marriage Seminars.

Each of our Seminars always turn out to be "the best weekend ever" for just about everyone who attends. This is not a coincidence. That is exactly what we pray for as we schedule and prepare for each weekend. We spend several weeks praying over each attendee and over the facility before the first invitation is sent in order to ensure that God is not only a part of the weekend, but that HE is the weekend.

Only God could transform lives in the way we have seen and only God could build an environment this rich and full of life altering experiences.

All we do is pray, prepare, and show up.
