ARC All Access 2010 in Baton Rouge

Just wanting to update and fill in on what has been happening at the ARC All Access Conference in Baton Rouge. Travis and I have been in Louisiana since Tuesday evening completely being drenched with great new and inspiring messages and worship services so refreshing it makes you want to never leave.
We have heard from Rick Bezet of New Life Church, Priscilla Shirer of Going Beyond Ministries,
Brian Houston, Senior Pastor, Hillsong Church, Craig Groeschel, John Maxwell, Dino Rizzo of Healing Place Church & many others.
There has not been a single element of AllAccess2010 that has been overlooked or under-appreciated by Travis or myself. Every single minute of this conference has been jam packed and we are soaking up every bit. Someone said , "Its like drinking water from a fire-hose", and I would agree.
Each speaker has shared a timely and annointed word that would have been sorely missed had we not made it down here to Baton Rouge.
God knew he wanted us here and HE made it happen.
We want to give a special shout out and express our deep gratitude to Jeff Jenkins & Kevin Pate of Global Advance, Pastor Tony Byrd, MorningStar Church, & to Mike Davis for blessing us by making our attendance here possible.
Thursday is the last day of the conference and we are expecting great things still. I am excited to know that God orchestrates events like All Access 2010 to bring hundreds of like minded individuals to set aside their own agendas and get back to the basics of His commission. A time of renewal, in a place for refreshing, and a spiritual realignment with God is the best way I know to spend three days.

WVIW Prison Crusade

Out on the plains of West Texas is a small town called Colorado City. A former oil boom town, Colorado City stands today with dozens of abandoned buildings and deserted streets. All around the town stands thousands of huge electricity generating windmills. It is a scene right out of the movies.

On the West side of town stands probably the best opportunity for employment for the residents of the area; two Texas prisons--"80" John Wallace and the Ware Unit. These two units were the focus of a three day crusade conducted by Worldwide Voice in the Wilderness.

We were assisted by The Church in the Wind from Midland, The Christian Motorcycle Association of Andrews, Freedom in Jesus Prison Ministry from Lubbock. Powerful sermons were brought by Terry Ohlmann, Ray Baker, Don Castleberry, Willie Burton, Mike Pesina, and Johnny Moffitt.

There was a variety of great Christian music. Willie and Hester Burton, Ray and Pamila Baker, Bobby and Jeanie Baker, Betty Moffitt, the prison worship worship teams, and a special treat--christian RAP by Kyle and Jeremy, provided exciting and powerful praise and worship.

Former prisoners and several former chemically addicted volunteers shared their testimonies. About 20 bikers rode their motorcycles into the prisons on Saturday and the prisoners were allowed to spend some time looking at the bikes and talking to the bikers. The volunteers ate their meals with the inmates and visited them in their dorms. Dozens of inmates accepted Christ during the weekend. I was very blessed just to be there.

Our next crusade will be October 29-31. Pray about joining WVIW for this great event. You will be blessed. Please watch this blog and our web site, www.wviw.com, for details.

WVIW Easter Update

Easter is a great time of year. It presents a day for all of humanity to be thrust into remembrance of the sacrifice that was made to ensure our ultimate gift of salvation. It allows all of us to reflect on the true reason any of us are here and gives us hope for the future.

On this day most of us will don a perfectly pressed Easter outfit, some will add something delicious to the crock pot, and then all head out to an Easter service someplace special with those we love. Most of the services' attendees will look like they have at every other service this year except maybe for a new hair bow or a little extra shine on their dress shoes. Most services will include a special song or presentation and of course as always a well planned and rehearsed Easter message.

The reason I say Most is because every church service on Easter is a least a little different. It is hard to come by two separate churches with the same method. Sure the message is the same but as constant as the word is the differences in which they are delivered are as varied and as unique as the individuals hearing the message.

This year I took the opportunity to attend an Easter service that was all together about as different as you could get.

I, along with my wife and 2 week old daughter, attended an Easter service hosted by the Circuit Riders Motorcycle Ministry. Everything from the venue, Strokers of Dallas - Biker Bar, to the way everyone was dressed, blue jeans & leather, and at least one person with a blue beard, was utterly and extremely different than any other Easter service I have EVER been to.

It was GREAT.

This event was planned and advertised as "Church On the Bike An Easter Service" and was the first of it's kind to be held at this particular venue. After all, a biker bar is not your typical "church" site. The events planners were excited to have been given the right to host this service at Strokers and the turnout was great. There must have been close to 200 people there and all were on their motorcycle except for about 50 or so.

The music was provided by the Christian Blues band "Subject 2 Change", who were a great start to the morning. They played several songs and passionately ministered  through their music the message of the Risen Redeemer.

The music was followed by Donnie "ZigZag" Owens. Donnie is the Chaplain for the Scorpion Motorcycle Club. Pastor ZigZag just celebrated 21 years clean and sober and he and his wife Susan now operate Angel House Ministries and he plays drums and preaches at their church.

Next up was WVIW Director Johnny Moffitt. In the late 1960's Johnny was an officer in one of the largest Motorcycle gangs in America. Johnny retold the story of how a series of events, which includes him holding a .38 pistol to his head, led to a miraculous life changing moment in 1971. Johnny recounts his life's story with an infectious humor that ensures his story will not be ignored.

The service would not have been complete without hearing from our good friend Pastor Pop Tucker. Pop has a unique ministering style where he is able to offer a certain encouragement that makes you feel instantly like a friend. His demeanor is jovial yet stern, which affords him a certain leeway like when he ordered all within earshot to "get on with it" in reference to ministering the gospel. His ministry through song as he strums his guitar is something you would not want to miss.

All in all I would say this will forever be one of the best Easter experiences one could ask for. It had all the requirements and so much more. If you ever have the chance to attend a service like Church On the Bike I would encourage you to not pass it up. Likewise, I would be remiss not to tell you to make it a priority to look up these speakers and make arrangements to see and hear what they have to say.

You will never be the same.

WVIW Charity Golf Tournament Update

Thank you for all who joined us as we participated in this year's Charity Golf Tournament. We had over 75 golfers and almost 20 volunteers. There were hundreds of dollars worth of prizes and giveaways including a custom chopper valued at over $30,000.
The wind was a little strong but everyone seemed to have a great time playing and spending time out of the office and on the links.

Every year we expect to have a great turnout and we have never been disappointed.
We were joied by several pastors, business owners, prison officials, and prison correctional staff. We aim to make this day not only a celebration of where God has taken us in our ministry but also as a way to thank all of our donors, supporters, and volunteers, all while having a great day of golf. This year was no exception.

Of the several giveaways were Dallas Stars Tickets, 2 Custom Golf clubs, several rounds of golf to area courses, dinner gift certificates totaling over 300, several hundred dollars worth of golf merchandise and even two tickets to the upcoming HP Byron Nelson Championship. We even had one of our sponsors offer up his custom chopper for a hole in one prize. While no one won the hole in one prize, we did our best to make sure everyone went home with something to remember this year's tournament.

Once again we would like to thank everyone for coming out and for being a part of making this year's tournament such a huge success. We are always grateful to spend any amount of time with all of our friends and we have an especially great time when the day includes golfing. If you would like to view and purchase photos from this years tournament please click here.
We would also like to give a special thanks to Scott Hunt, President of the Richardson Senior Golf League for attending our tournament and for supplying several hardworking volunteers led by RSGL Members, Bob & Margie Schwartz.
